Ixta Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar - 2nd Anniversary Celebration Of A Tradition
Opening in 2004 in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, IXTA Cocina Mexicana & Tequila Bar (48 East 29th Street, New York, NY 10016; 212.683.4822; www.ixtarestaurant.com), is now toasting its second anniversary. Noted as one of the city's best kept secrets for authentic Mexican fare, IXTA has remained true to the traditions of Mexico without compromising the quality of cuisine ingredients. In celebration of its two year mark, IXTA is offering complimentary Mojitos featuring Oronoco Rum every Wednesday in the month of May.
The Inspiration of Izatcchuatt - Conceptualized by Mike Himani, owner of the successful AAF Restaurants (Pacific Grill, Hearts & Horns, Smokey's 11101, Nanking, All About Food Catering), Himani commissioned Lesly Zamor (SEED Design Solutions; works include Bloom Flowers, Nanking, Taj, Hearts and Horns) to design an atmosphere that would compliment IXTA's exotic flavor. Working with a warm palette dicor, Zamor matched IXTA's ambience with its tantalizing cuisine and specialty cocktails. He used the inspiration of Mexico's Izatcchuatt, a 17,342 ft mountain, also known as "Ixta" as his main focal point. The legend tells a romantic tale of the great warrior Popo and Aztec Princess Ixta, whose myth immortalizes the lovers forever in the mountains that bear their name. In present time, the Ixta and Popo mountains are a symbol of the souls of the star crossed lovers that remain together for eternity.
Herrauda Silver Tequila and Fresh Juices - General Manager Jair Neri has made it his responsibility to stay true to the Mexican flavor by not compromising the taste of the restaurant's beverages. Using only fresh fruits and ingredients, IXTA allows its clientele to experience the freshness of the Rivera in the heart of Murray Hill. Specializing in Herrauda Silver and Patron Tequila, guests are privy to the wealthy end of 100% pure tequila. During the summer months, Neri is also expanding IXTA's menu across the Gulf to touch on Caribbean favorites, such as the popular Mojitos, Caipirinhas, and Red and White Sangria. All of these refreshing cocktails perfectly compliment IXTA's "hot" cuisine and combat the heat of the city nights.
Expanding Lunch Menu and Evening Entertainment - IXTA has recently expanded its lunch menu to include upscale renditions of Mexican classics. From Seafood Enchiladas to Torta de Milanesa, diners will experience familiar Latin flavors with an upscale presentation. Comfortable outdoor seating allows the ability to "people watch" in the bustling neighborhood while experiencing the genuine hospitality of the personable staff. With the recent addition of live music and evening entertainment ranging from Salsa to present day Radio Hits, IXTA is certain to become one of New York's most flavorful destinations.
