Jacques Pepin To Host Star-studded Cooking Class For A Cause
Gougeres two ways, calamari a la plancha, souffle au Grand Marnier. What could be better than indulging in these delectable dishes? Try savoring them (and many others!) after learning how to make them from some of the world's finest chefs, all in an evening dedicated to combating the global hunger crisis.
The legendary Jacques Pepin will host a star-studded cooking class at De Gustibus Cooking School at Macy's Herald Square on Thursday, May 10th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Tickets are sold out, but members of the press will receive forwarded photos from the event, along with the featured recipes. The event is the first of its kind at De Gustibus, a recreational cooking school where everyone is welcome to enjoy the demonstrations of world renowned chefs and wine experts, now in its 32nd year at Macy's.
Jacques Pepin will work alongside French Master Chefs Christian Delouvrier (La Mangeoire), Jean-Louis Dumonet (The Union Club of NYC), Claude Godard (Jeanne et Gaston), and Laurent Manrique (Millesime) as they reimagine some of Jacques' signature dishes. Attendees will follow (and eat) along as the four-course meal is prepared, each course paired with wine provided by Langdon Shiverick Imports. Recipes and wine distributor information are available for all to take home.
The cooking class will benefit Action Against Hunger, a leading global humanitarian organization working to combat deadly malnutrition in more than 40 countries. In a world with the capacity to feed twice its current population, 3.5 million children still die from causes related to acute malnutrition each year. Although we have the means and knowledge to prevent, diagnose and treat deadly malnutrition, only 3% of malnourished children around the world receive access to treatment.
Can't get enough to eat from the fine chefs at the cooking class? You can also find two of them, Jean-Louis Dumonet and Claude Godard, at the 8th Annual Great Gathering of Chefs on Tuesday, June 5th.
