The James Beard Foundation And Silverseas Cruises Announce Asian Culinary Voyage This Fall
The James Beard Foundation (JBF), the world's foremost nonprofit culinary arts organization, is partnering with Silversea Cruises to create an exclusive food lovers' voyage this fall featuring calls throughout Japan, China and South Korea. JBF Award-winning celebrity chef and television personality Martin Yan of Yan Can Cook, PBS, will host this September 23rd, 2012 twelve-day sailing trip from Tokyo to Beijing on the 382-guest Silver Shadow.
James Beard Foundation guests will enjoy:
- A private welcome reception with chef Martin Yan
- Exclusive onboard cooking demonstrations with chef Martin Yan
- Lunches and cooking classes led by chef Martin Yan at his Beijing restaurant, Yan Can Cook Beijing, and in the Old Temple area of Shanghai
- The company of like-minded guests on Silversea, just named Best Cruise Line for Luxury Small Ships by the 2011 Luxury Travel Advisor Awards of Excellence
Ports of call on this luxurious cruise include a maiden call in the culturally distinct southern Japanese city of Kagoshima; the island destination of Jeju, South Korea; and Shanghai, home to some of Asia's most exciting and diverse cuisine.
"The best way to explore Asia is to do it through your taste buds," said Chef Yan. "And the most enjoyable and relaxing way to explore is on board a luxury Silversea Cruise. Because it's a James Beard Foundation event you will be surrounded by fellow food enthusiasts. Naturally the food will be fabulous but there's a lot more: hands-on cooking classes and live food demonstrations by master chefs, both on board and at my Beijing restaurant. A slow boat to China was never this much fun!"
All inclusive pricing for this James Beard Foundation departure begins at $6,899 per person. Silversea's all-inclusive fares include a spacious ocean-view suite (most with private teak verandas), professional butler service, complimentary fine wines and spirits served throughout the ship, gourmet cuisine, open-seating dining, all gratuities, and more. In addition, because the James Beard Foundation is a non-profit organization, a portion of the proceeds of each cruise fare is tax deductible.
"For our 25th anniversary year, we are delighted that chef Martin Yan will be our featured celebrity chef guiding James Beard Foundation cruise participants explore and enjoy special culinary adventures in the exciting cities of Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo," said Susan Ungaro, president of the James Beard Foundation.
One-night pre-and post-cruise hotel stays at the Park Hyatt Tokyo and the Park Hyatt Beijing, shore excursions in Tokyo, Kagoshima, Nagasaki, Shanghai, Seoul and Beijing and all transfers are available for an additional add-on from $1,799 per person. Pisa Brothers Travel, a Worldview Travel company, is the exclusive travel agency for this departure.
