Jean-robert And Annette De Cavel Host Annual Sids Fundraiser Friends And Family Brunch At Midwest Culinary

CINCINNATI: Cincinnati Chef Jean-Robert de Cavel and his wife Annette are hosting their annual fundraiser, Eat.Play.Give. The Friends and Family Brunch and Silent Auction presented by Cincinnati Children's Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State. Proceeds from the brunch benefit SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research, education and support-and also the Tatiana de Cavel Scholarship Fund at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State.
The brunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and features food and beverages from Greater Cincinnati's best restaurants, hands-on activities for kids and silent auction with art, jewelry, restaurant certificates and dinners from some of the best Chefs in Cincinnati.
The de Cavels have made some changes this year, including forming their own foundation, the de Cavel Family SIDS Foundation, and moving the brunch from June to October.
"When we were 7 Days for SIDS, we had one week of many events that ended with our brunch. So many of our friends in the restaurant community have held their own events as well as contributed to the brunch-we thought we'd spread the events throughout the year instead of concentrating on one week," said Jean-Robert. "October is National SIDS Awareness Month," he added, "and we want to put the spotlight on that."
Participating restaurants include: Coffee Emporium, Daveed's at 934, the Summit at MCI, Chef's Choice Catering, Cumin Eclectic Cuisine, Jean-Philippe Chocolatier, Orchids at the Palm Court, Otto's, Eat Well Catering, Sung Korean Bistro, the Jeff Ruby Entertainment Group, My Food Arts by Todd Shanks, Winecraft, Hugo, Queen City Cookies, Keegan's Seafood, Taste of Belgium, Keystone Bar and Grill, Oriental Wok, La Poste Eatery and more.

About The de Cavel Family SIDS Foundation: in June 2002, Jean-Robert and Annette de Cavel lost their baby daughter, Tatiana to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Devasted by their loss, but determined to help other families affected by SIDS, they founded 7 Days for SIDS, now The de Cavel Family SIDS Foundation. The outpouring of support from Greater Cincinnati's restaurant community made it one of the most comprehensive and successful SIDS fundraisers in the country. Since June 2003, the de Cavels and a devoted group of volunteers have raised over $600,000 for SIDS research, education and support-and also for the Tatiana de Cavel Scholarship Fund at the Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State. Annette and Jean-Robert's sincerest wish is that someday no family will have to endure the devastating loss of SIDS.
