The Joy Of The Fig Brightens Holiday Shopping

the girl & the fig debuts her first Catalogue

-- Just in time for the Holidays, shopping from one of America's favorite Wine Country destinations just got easier. The girl & fig introduces her first catalogue featuring the award winning line of FIG FOOD produced by the Sonoma County restaurant, FIG BODY products, and other favorite fig themed gifts. Paper catalogues are available at the girl & the fig restaurant at 110 S. Spain Street in Sonoma and at the fig cafi & winebar at 13690 Arnold Drive in Glen Ellen. Online shoppers will find the catalogue at http://www.thegirlandthefig.com/catalogue.html. The website includes a downloadable order form or visitors may order by calling 1-866-420-FIGS (3447).

Proprietor Sondra Bernstein calls the catalogue "joie de figue", French for "the joy of the fig". "Our premier catalogue is filled with all of the wonderful ingredients found in my Wine Country restaurants," says Bernstein. "Shoppers will find figs, food, cheese, art, wine, gift, a passion for authenticity and most of all, love."

"Joie de figue" is filled with creative gift ideas including gift packs of FIG FOOD including the two newest additions, Spiced Fig Chocolate and Spiced Fig Caramel. Deck the halls with works from the girl & the fig's resident artist, Julie Higgins. Give a gift that continues throughout the year with Cheese & Figs. Four times throughout the year recipients will receive a selection of cheeses and FIG FOOD condiments. Or choose the ultimate gift, enroll someone special in Fig School where students will join Sondra Bernstein and Executive Chef John Toulze in Provence for a week of cooking classes, leisurely meals, farmer's markets and more.

Bernstein opened the the girl & the fig restaurant in the heart of California's beautiful Wine Country in 1997 and received critical acclaim from the first day she opened for business. Today she owns two restaurants, both featuring country food with a French passion. In addition, she has written the girl & the fig Cookbook published by Simon & Schuster in 2004 and is the host of a weekly radio show, The Sonoma Kitchen.
