The Kingfish Cafe Offers A Menu Of Holiday Favorites For Easter

Owners Leslie and Laurie Coaston of The Kingfish Cafe invite guests into their "home" to celebrate Easter brunch or dinner on Sunday, April 8th with "the food we grew up with". Located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood at 602 - 19th Avenue East, the family friendly restaurant which displays photos of generations of Coaston kin, will serve a lamb special in addition to the regular menu for dinner, which is served from 5:30 to 9:30 pm. Brunch, with dishes like Chick n' Waffle, Good Glory! Grits or Sistah Celie's Country Breakfast is available on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm, for those who prefer to gather earlier in the day for a holiday meal.

Specializing in the art of soulful dining, The Cafe offers an extensive array of Southern influenced dishes, many drawn from family recipes of both the sisters and Chef Kenyetta Carter. Favorites include starters such as Sho'Nuff Fried Green Tomatoes topped with garlic and chipotle sauces and served with hot out of the kitchen hushpuppies or Kingfish House Crab and Catfish Cakes with Dixie Tartar. Signature entrees include My Way or the Highway Buttermilk Fried Chicken complemented with mashed potatoes and slow cooked collard greens; Simply Griddled Catfish accompanied by herbed grits and slow cooked greens; and Jazz it Slow Gumbo with tasso, prawns, chicken, okra - served with the VERY addictive house-made cornbread. Giant slices of cake or The Kingfish Cafe's Strawberry Shortcake are a great way to finish off a meal.

The Kingfish Cafe is open for dinner seven days a week, with lunch served Monday through Friday, Brunch Saturday and Sunday, and Happy Hour from 4 to 6 pm Monday through Friday. For information call (206) 320-8757.
