L' Academie De Cuisine Begins New Session Of Pastry Arts Program
On Wednesday, September 4, 2002 LAcademie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland will begin a new session of its professional Pastry Arts Program. Currently accepting applications for placement into this program, L'Academie de Cuisine offers a part-time, 34-week Pastry Arts Program where the focus is on technical and theoretical training in classic French pastry techniques. With an emphasis on small class size, students receive personal attention and expert instruction under the direction of European and American trained chefs.
After 6-months intensive hands-on training, L'Academie de Cuisine's students are placed in restaurants, hotels, pastry shops or bakeries in the metropolitan Washington area for a 300 hour (approximately 10 weeks) paid externship to complete their training..
LAcademies pastry students have held externships at acclaimed Washington, DC area restaurants and hotels such as Galileo, Butterfield 9, Tabard Inn, Bistro Bis, Colvin Run Tavern, DC Coast, Ten Penh, Park Hyatt Hotel, The Ritz Carlton Hotels, Hotel Sofitel, Landsdowne Resort, Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore, bakeries and pastry shops throughout the metropolitan Washington area. Graduates begin their pastry career confident that they have received the tools to work anywhere while continuing to learn and hone their skills on their path to becoming a successful Pastry Chef
On August 17 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m LAcademie de Cuisine will host a final Pastry Arts Buffet and Champagne reception with the professional students in the current session of the Pastry Arts Program This buffet will be presented as the culmination of all the techniques and knowledge the students have learned during the previous six-months classroom instruction.
Since 1976, LAcademie de Cuisine has been offering programs designed for students who want a formal education in order to pursue a career in the field of culinary and pastry arts. The school offers both professional career training and recreational classes at two locations in Bethesda and Gaithersburg, Maryland.
