L'academie De Cuisine Launches New Spanish Language Culinary Program
L'Academie de Cuisine has announced plans to begin teaching its Professional Culinary Development Series in Spanish beginning January 20, 2003. "As part of our educational mission, we are responding to the region's demand for professional education courses for working cooks. The demand for skilled culinary labor has grown ten-fold in the past twenty years and Spanish-speaking cooks are the backbone of our industry," stated Francois Dionot, Founder and Director of L'Academie de Cuisine. Based on a parallel course taught in English for the past twenty years at L'Academie, this new series will be divided into two 8-week sessions: Tools for the Professional Cook and Techniques for the Professional Cook. Taught by Chef Gerardo Gonzalez, the course will be a combination of technique-demonstration and hands-on participation for the students.
There will be an Open House for chefs, prospective students and anyone interested in attending or learning about this program on Sunday, November 24, 2002 between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm at L'Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg. This will be an opportunity to meet the instructors and staff and enjoy a pre-Game buffet for the Redskins-St. Louis game scheduled for 4:15 pm.
Since 1976, L'Academie de Cuisine has been offering programs designed for students who want a formal education in order to pursue a career in the field of culinary and pastry arts. The school is nationally accredited and offers both professional career training and recreational classes at two locations in Bethesda and Gaithersburg, Maryland. Other areas of study include the Culinary Career Training Program, Pastry Arts Program, part-time professional classes, continuing education, and a wide variety of recreational classes.
