Lago D'argento Opens In The Heart Of Silverlake: A New Neighborhood Pizzeria, Restaurant And Bar

Silverlake gets a new neighborhood pizzeria and restaurant with the opening of Lago D'Argento Pizzeria, April 5, 2012. A genuine neighborhood pizzeria and bar in a trendy, inviting setting, Lago D'Argento gives locals a great new place to eat, socialize and relax.

Owner, Anat Escher, (Barbarella Bar & Kitchen in Silverlake, Bugatta on Melrose) is thrilled to open the new eatery serving the neighborhood. "I wanted to create something that will cater to Silverlake locals-- a comfortable, affordable and quality dining experience. Lago D'Argento's welcoming French doors open to Silverlake's buzzing Hyperion Blvd. The interior is intimate and casual. Leather booths and cozy seating flank the interior while a round communal dining table is centered in the middle creating a lively, fun environment. The walls are adorned with cheery hand drawn murals by famed Venice, CA artist Robert Pereida ( http://robertpereidaillustration.com).

Lago D'Argento's menu features classic Neapolitan style pizza, shared plates and salads. Great attention to detail is given to the preparation of the house made pizza dough, sausages and pastas, provided by executive chef Jay Mendoza, (former pastry chef at Churchill and Ortolan). Delectable pizzas are made with the finest ingredients while being well priced. Lago D'Argento offers 13 different selections.

Highlights include The Vegetarian Pizza: braised fennel, caramelized leeks, mushrooms, red onion, and sweet basil, offered at $9. The White Delicious Pizza: sweet fennel sausage, fontina, red onions and scallions is $11. 'House Specialty' pizzas include the Shrimp Scampi: pesto, light tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella with fresh dill and the Duck Sausage: chef's barbecue sauce, gouda, mushrooms, caramelized onions and scallion, both are offered at $13.

Other menu highlights include Meatballs al Forno, at just $10, 3 delectable meatballs topped with tomato sauce, fresh parmesan and served with crostini is a perfect shared plate. Short Rib Picci Noodles, $12, a savory blend of homemade noodle, braised short rib, leaks, orange zest, cherry tomatoes and grated parmesan is sure to be a Lago D'Argento favorite. Lago D'Argento also features a selection of fresh and seasonal salads.

Delicious desserts are prepared in house by Mendoza. The Butterscotch Budino: salted caramel, cr�me fraiche and rosemary short bread and the White Chocolate Bread Pudding: white chocolate sauce, market berry compote, cr�me Chantilly are each $6. Gelatos and sherbets are also available. Lago D'Argento features a full bar as well as a vast selection of local and artisan beers on draft, and a carefully curated wine list. Coffee is provided by LA Mill. Lago D'Argento features a kids menu for $6. Take-out menu and curbside pickup is also available.
