Square, Cambridge, First Legal Location to Offer Weekend Meal

Legal Sea Foods President and CEO Roger Berkowitz is thrilled to announce that the new Charles Square Legal Sea Foods in Harvard Square (directly behind The Charles Hotel) will now offer a weekend brunch! Starting this month, an attractively priced ` la carte brunch menu will be served Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

"This marks the first time Legal has ever offered brunch, and we feel Charles Square is the perfect spot to have a go at this," says Berkowitz. "If it's successful, we'll roll it out at selected other locations. This is something weve wanted to do for a long time."

Choices from the inaugural brunch menu with Legal accents include:

Poached Eggs Oscar with Crabmeat, Steamed Asparagus & Hollandaise Sauce $11.95

Cajun Shrimp and Andouille Omelet with Creole Sauce $11.95

Brioche French Toast with Fresh Fruit $8.95

Mushroom Frittata with Romano Cheese & Apple Smoked Bacon $8.95

Lobster, Goat Cheese & Chive Omelet (with meat from a 1< lb lobster) $14.95

Brunch Platter with Smoked Whitefish, Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs $10.95

Sides include: Apple Smoked Bacon, Egg Bagel with Cream Cheese,
Toasted Brioche, Signature Home fries and more - priced $ .95 - $1.95

In addition to a creative menu of brunch dishes given a special Legal twist, the restaurant will offer an exciting selection of champagne cocktails featuring Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut flavored with Massenez Crhmes (a triple concentration of fruit, sugar and eau-de-vie) imported from France. Three-ounce "Sampler Sizes" of the champagne cocktails and an array of Bloody Marys will be available, as well as other brunch libations and, of course, the full Legal wine list.

Since opening this past fall, the Charles Square location has been embraced by the University City. Designed by Peter Niemitz, the restaurant features cozy, deep and sleek dining rooms with leather banquettes, dark oak paneling and a large bar. Low ceilings create a mellow tavern feel with touches of stone, brick, stucco and Mission-style copper light fixtures. Large rectangular windows offer views of the lushly planted Charles Square courtyard: a soothing urban oasis in the middle of Harvard Square! In summer months, outdoor dining is available at inviting umbrella-shaded tables.
