Little Dom's Says Buon Giorno To Los Angeles
The highly anticipated new venture from celebrated restaurateurs Warner Ebbink and Chef Brandon Boudet has opened in the eclectic neighborhood of Los Feliz in Los Angeles. Little Dom's features the updated Italian-American fare of Chef Brandon Boudet and the characteristic neighborhood feel of Ebbink and Boudet's other venues-Dominick's in West Hollywood and the 101 Coffee Shop in Hollywood.
Located on one of L.A.'s most pedestrian friendly streets in the heart of the sought-after Los Feliz neighborhood, Little Dom's combines the laid back atmosphere of Los Angeles with the dynamic feel of a New York block. "We wanted to make it seem like this restaurant has been here forever, even though we completely renovated the space," says Ebbink. "It was important to me to make sure this felt like a neighborhood restaurant because every neighborhood needs one." The polished wooden bar was found by Ebbink in upstate Pennsylvania and painstakingly restored to retain unique elements. Striking leaded glass windows salvaged from an old building cast a lavender hue over diners perched on the bright red bar stools. The warm leather booths and cool white marble tabletops create a harmonious balance of elegant American bistro and a comfortable neighborhood bar. Upstairs, the dining room is retro Hollywood meets modern Rat Pack with large red leather booths and cozy tables for two set alongside sweeping windows. Characteristic touches such as quirky black and white photos, maps of Italy and mounted fish add to the whimsical vibe familiar from Dominick's and the 101 Coffee Shop. Outdoor tables situated along the perimeter of the surrounding sidewalk are reminiscent of a European caf and make the perfect location for Sunday brunch or a festive evening with friends.
The menu at Little Dom's features seasonal Italian-American fare with a California influence for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Acclaimed Chef Brandon Boudet utilizes the best seasonal and local ingredients (much from the Hollywood Farmer's Market) as he prepares classic Dominick's favorites such as Rice Balls; Spaghetti and Meatballs; and Whitefish Piccata. The menu also features what are sure to be new classics such as Wood-fired Pizzas; Fried Artichokes with Shrimp, Mint, Garlic and Capers; Chickpea Fries with Fontina Fonduta; Homemade Pappardelle with Roasted Mushrooms and Cream; and Baked Tortiglioni with Italian Sausage and Roasted Fennel. Heartier fare includes Grilled Filet Mignon Tips with Barolo Wine Sauce and Parmesan Mashed Potatoes; Wood Oven Roasted Chicken Cacciatore; Grilled Blue Bass with Roasted Baby Yams, Cavolo Nero, and Aged Balsamic; and the Wood Grilled Hamburger with Burrata, Speck and Housemade Roasted Tomato Mostarda.
For lunch, guests can either head next door to the deli for a quick espresso and panino made with artisanal Italian salumi or grab a seat on the sidewalk for dishes such as the Little Dom's Salad, with seasonally changing vegetables; or a Sicilian Tuna Melt with Roasted Tomatoes, Arugula, Capers and Lemon. For an earlier fix or the perfect brunch, head to Little Dom's to sample the breakfast menu with favorites like the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or a Wood Oven Baked Frittata with Roasted Leeks and Speck. To end the meal, accomplished Pastry Chef Ann Kirk, who has spent time in the kitchens of noted Los Angeles restaurants Lucques, La Terza and Literati II, offers unique sweet treats such as Butternut Squash Fritters with Cinnamon Sugar and Crme Frache Whipped Cream; a daily changing Chocolate Tasting; Meyer Lemon Panna Cotta with Candied Tangerines and Coconut Crispies and the classic Torta Della Nonna with Blackberry Compote and Gelato al Latte.
