Maine-based Gifford's Ice Cream Announces Seasonal Special Batch Flavors, Introduces Festive New Winter Packaging
Skowhegan, Me. - Award-winning, Maine-made Gifford's Ice Cream (www.giffordsicecream.com) is welcoming cooler temperatures with its annual "Special Batch" flavors for fall and winter, along with a new seasonal package design, Lindsay Gifford, vice president of sales and marketing, announced today.
"Our Special Batch flavors, in grocery stores throughout New England while supplies last, are our small way of celebrating the changing weather each year in New England," Gifford explained. "We'll kick off the season with Pink Peppermint Stick and Pumpkin, two flavors consistently requested by our customers, and later in the season, Pistachio Nut will be back on store shelves by popular demand."
A smooth, premium ice cream version of classic Pumpkin Pie, Gifford's Pumpkin Ice Cream comes complete with fresh ground cinnamon and nutmeg. The company's Pink Peppermint Stick Ice Cream is packed with red and green peppermint crunch, and customer favorite Pistachio Nut is a pistachio-flavored ice cream loaded with real pistachios.
According to Gifford, the company's new carton design, found on Old Fashioned Vanilla in quart and half-gallon cartons, Pumpkin in half-gallons, and Pink Peppermint Stick in quarts, colorfully showcases outdoor activities, family fun and winter in the Northeast.
"We northeasterners love our ice cream no matter what the weather, and our new winter carton design highlights some of our favorite family activities," she noted. "We like to think that people enjoy these activities and remember that ice cream tastes as good in December as it does in July!"
On store shelves throughout fall and winter, the blue palette of the new quart and half-gallon cartons makes them noticeably different from the well-recognized, traditional Gifford's green packaging. The design features colorful scenes of favorite snowy pastimes, such as building snowmen and ice skating. This is the first year for the seasonal packaging, and Gifford says the company will evaluate its appeal based on customer response.
Now available throughout northern New England at Hannaford locations, Shaw's Supermarkets, and Roche Bros. locations, Gifford's Ice Cream is also offered in several hundred ice cream stands throughout New England, New York and New Jersey. Gifford's Ice Cream, winner at the 2009 World Dairy Expo for "World's Best Chocolate," is also served at a growing number of major account locations, including The Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion, Colby College and The University of Connecticut.
