Marquis Los Cabos Resort Pastry Chef Inducted Into Acadimie Culinaire De France

MARQUIS LOS CABOS RESORT PASTRY CHEF IS INDUCTED INTO THE "ACADIMIE CULINAIRE DE FRANCE"

Los Cabos, Mexico (May 3, 2005) - Abel Navarro, Pastry Chef of the Marquis Los Cabos, Beach, Golf, Spa and Casitas Resorts, Los Cabos, Mexico, was inducted into the Acadimie Culinaire de France (The French Culinary Academy) for his outstanding role in the French culinary and pastry profession. On April 10, 2005, Mr. Gerard Dupont, president of the Acadimie, presented Pastry Chef Abel with a medal during the award ceremony in Mexico City. Chef Navarro and Chef Thierry Dufour, Marquis Los Cabos' Executive Chef, are among five chefs in Mexico's State of Baja California Sur to receive this prestigious recognition.

As a member of the Acadimie, Pastry Chef Abel plays an important role as ambassador of the French culinary and pastry profession in Mexico. He must maintain the academy's goals to develop the culinary and pastry arts, promote haute cuisine, preserve the prestige of the profession, and update old recipes. The Acadimie Culinaire de France was founded in 1883 by Joseph Favre, author of the Universal Dictionary of Cooking. The academy represents the elite of the profession and its members are the cream of the crop of the pastry and culinary arts.

Born and educated in Mexico City, Abel Navarro has been Pastry Chef of the Marquis Los Cabos Beach, Golf, Spa and Casitas Resort since it opened in April 1, 2003. Prior to the Marquis Los Cabos Resort, Navarro held positions at the Fiesta Americana Grand in Los Cabos, Fiesta American Merida, Hotel Nikko in Mexico City among other hotels in Mexico. In addition to the Acadimie Culinaire de France, Navarro is also a member of VATEL Club de Mexico.
