Matchbox Introduces Berry Delicious Summer Cocktails
Berries are bursting into season and matchbox, vintage pizza bistro in the historic Penn Quarter, is creating chilled, fruity libations ideal for summer, each made with a different variation of house-infused vodka and/or rum, and priced between $7-$8 each. First up is the matchbox Punch, a colorful combination of house-infused berry and mango vodkas, house-infused pineapple rum, pineapple juice, orange juice and grenadine, or the Watermelon Tease, with house-infused watermelon vodka, rum, gin tequila, triple sec and a splash of sour mix.
Then comes the Berry Blast a libation made with house-infused berry vodka, pineapple juice and a splash of Sprite followed by the Ginger Snap, created by mixing house-infused vodka with fresh lemon juice and ginger syrup. To craft each specialty cocktail, fresh fruit is steeped for 10 days in either vodka or rum, then cooled to 47 degrees in a below ground walk-in cooler.
