Neighborhood Restaurant Group Announces The Virginia Farmland Summer Solstice Supper
Neighborhood Restaurant Group (NRG), known for its dedication to the farm-to-table philosophy, will once again reverse the trend this year by bringing the dinner table to the farm.
NRG will host a table to farm dinner on the last day of spring, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 4:00 PM on Loudon County Farmland, located about one hour from DC. The Virginia Farmland Solstice Supper will have guests to dine in the very fields where the meal's ingredients are grown, alongside the producers of their food and wine. Noted winemaker Dennis Horton of Horton Vineyards will be in attendance, serving and discussing his exceptional Virginia wines. Guests will also have a chance to meet and mingle with local farmers Ellen Polishuk of Potomac Vegetable Farms, Chip and Susan Planck of Wheatland Farms, Rob Moutoux Jr. of Moutoux Orchard, Barbara Lamborne of Greenstone Fields and Georgia and Zach O' Neal of Tree and Leaf Farm.
Priced at $160, the locavore's feast will include passed hors d'oeuvres followed by a four-course dinner inspired by produce harvested that very day and expertly prepared on site by Chef Chittum, who has just been nominated for the Rising Culinary Star of the Year award by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington (RAMW).
In case of rain on June 20th, the event will take place the following Saturday, June 27, 2009. For reservations to the dinner, please contact Clare Parker at cparker@neighborhoodrestaurantgroup.com.
