New Baking & Pastry Program Comes To Mn

Future culinary professionals throughout the Twin Cities have a new educational opportunity. The Art Institutes International Minnesota, a culinary arts college located in downtown Minneapolis proudly announces their new Baking & Pastry Certificate culinary arts program. This new program will compliment the well-established associates degree in culinary arts and a cooking certificate degree at The Art Institutes International Minnesota. The Baking & Pastry Certificate program will begin October 6, 2003 and the program was established to offer the adult learner an additional opportunity for a culinary arts education.

The Baking & Pastry Certificate program accommodates the varied schedules of students who desire a new career quickly or those who want to enhance their current skills for advancement to more challenging responsibilities of their chosen profession. The program can be completed in three quarters for a full-time student, or completed in four quarters for a part-time student. Emphasis is placed on speed, coordination, and teamwork when preparing items from scratch. Topics such as cake and pastry preparation, artesian breads, and cake decorating are specifically included in courses that prepare students for careers in baking and pastry making. Graduates from this program will be prepared for entry-level positions as assistant bakers or pastry cooks at both large and small food service facilities.
