New York City Careers Through Culinary Arts

Windows on the World hosted the 9th Annual Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) Awards Breakfast. New York City high school seniors were awarded scholarships to nationally-recognized and local culinary institutions.

The scholarships were awarded to local students and teachers as a result of a cooking competition sponsored by C-CAP at The New York Restaurant School. This year's competition judges included: Dan Barber, Blue Hill; Peter Elliot, Bloomberg; Odette Fada, San Domenico; Michael Otsuka, Verbena; Marcus Samuelsson, Aquavit; Alex Urena, Blue Hill; Patricia Yeo, AZ

The New York City C-CAP program is currently in 33 public high schools in the five boros. C-CAP's mission is to promote and provide food service career opportunities for inner city youth. Since 1990, C-CAP has awarded over $6.3 million in scholarships, recruited hundreds of industry volunteers and furnished participating schools with more than $1,000,000 worth of donated products and supplies for enrolled C-CAP schools.

C-CAP strives to instill self-esteem, self-reliance and a spirit of teamwork with the teachers and students enrolled in the C-CAP New York City program and in the other locales7Arizona, Chicago, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Tidewater, VA.
