Noted Chef Patricia Yeo Unveils New Restaurant In Cambridge: Moksa

Acclaimed Chef Patricia Yeo recently debuted a new restaurant concept to the Central Square neighborhood of Cambridge. MOKSA, a Pan Asian izakaya, is a joint venture with Boston Restaurateur Solmon Chowdhury. The dynamic duo is currently working closely as Partners of OM Restaurant & Lounge located in Harvard Square, where Yeo is also Executive Chef. Yeo continues her dual role of Partner and Executive Chef at both locations.

"MOKSA has been a work in progress since 2009. I grew up in Central Square and have always wanted to open a restaurant in the neighborhood where I grew up," said Solmon Chodhury. "MOKSA means 'destiny' in Hindi so it makes sense that everything leading up to the opening has been quite fortuitous. First I came across the location, and shortly thereafter I brought Patricia on board. She shares the same drive and vision that I have in bringing a new concept to the Boston culinary scene with her idea of the izakaya."

The main dining room seats 80 guests while the lounge and bar area seats up to 70 guests. A seasonal outdoor patio seats up to 40 guests. There are three separate private event spaces that can accommodate sit down dinners, cocktail receptions, and everything in between. The back dining room also transforms into a nightclub venue called Naga on weekends which has its own separate entrance.

The dynamic menu is crafted by Chef Patricia Yeo and features small plates priced at no more than $15 each. The Pan Asian cuisine falls into the 5 categories of: Chilled & Raw, Dumplings, Sauteed, Pan Fried & Broiled, From the Wok, and From the Charcoal Grill. The menu includes a selection of the iconic plates Yeo has become known for such as: Shrimp & Pork Water Dumplings, Dan Dan Mein, Silver Pin Noodles with Snow Tofu & Snow Peas, Duck Meatballs, Honeycomb Tripe and Korean Style Shortribs. All menu items are from locally sourced produce, meat and fish in addition to exotic spices.

The beverage menu at MOKSA is developed by Sommelier, Mixologist and Certified Sake Specialist, Noon Inthasuwan. Her Asian heritage and affinity for Asian inspired ingredients have led her to develop a one of a kind cocktail menu incorporating Asian astrological signs and the concept of balancing Yin & Yang. Cocktails include house made tea bitters such as Iron Buddha Bitters and syrups such as Goji-Grenadine. The beer list is carefully chosen with a focus on local breweries such as the Cambridge Brewing Company who will customize a brew for MOKSA with elements of Asian persuasion. Two wine lists are offered at MOKSA, one being an exclusive cellar list for connoisseurs and the other a list of value driven wines. Both lists include an eclectic selection of sustainable wine from around the world.

MOKSA is open daily serving lunch, dinner, a late night menu and weekend brunch.
