Oakland, CA - NUMI Teas, the brother and sister organic tea company, continues to expand its conscious approach to business by adding another 5 FAIR TRADE Certified teas. In quarter one of 2005, NUMI Fair Trade Certified 3 of its teas, Monkey King, Aged Earl Grey & Golden Chai. By January 2006, NUMI will have another 5 teas certified for a total of 8 which include Red Mellow Bush, Ruby Chai, Berry Black, Moonlight Spice & Rainforest Green.

As part of NUMI's commitment to global consciousness and environmental responsibility, Numi teabags are fully biodegradable, compostable and GMO FREE. They are made with paper and are free of nylon, as is used in the trendy "silky" polyester or cornstarch teabags. Numi's products are QAI Certified Organic, Certified Halal, Kosher Pareve, and NOW Fair Trade Certified.


SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
PACKAGING - NUMI believes in an environmentally conscious approach to packaging. NUMI's gift boxes are made of bamboo, a recognized earth-friendly material known for its fast re-growth and high strength. By now using 100% post consumer recycled content in its teaboxes, overwrap, sales sheets, & bamboo labels, Numi is proud to annually conserve an estimated;

THE BAMBOO PROJECT
In June 2005, the southern region of China was struck with the worst flooding in 100 years.
In the Guangxi Province, where Numi purchases all its bamboo, the flooding took more than 600 lives, and forced the evacuation of about 333,000 people. Fortunately, all Numi's bamboo factory workers are safe. However, these floods completely destroyed the Guangxi Province's bamboo factorya major source of the community's economy.

Numi is donating 20% of its bamboo profits to help rebuild the Guangxi bamboo factory. Ongoing proceeds will go to maintaining the facility and ensuring fair wages for their workers. Numi is committed to giving back to its COMMUNITEA.
