Nyc Food Film Festival Announces Details On Southeast Asian Market
NEW YORK, NY --- If you can't make it to Taipei, The NYC Food Film Festival has you covered at the Astor Center on June 24th with an incredible take on Southeast Asian Street Food. Presenting four films about the region's cuisine, the screening will be accompanied by an array of delectable edibles presided over by uber-chef Brad Farmerie of Double Crown and Public. Aided by Adam Woodfield from Betel, Chris Rendell and Ryan Butler from Double Crown and Ratha Chau from Kampuchea, Farmerie and his friends will be dazzling food film enthusiasts with their serenade to Southeast Asian cuisine.
Dishes such as Fried Oysters with a Wasabi-Yuzu Dipping Sauce, Green Mango with Chili Lime Sugar and Pigs Blood Popsicles will share the billing with Night Market in Taipei. Pork Chop, the story of a young Chinese girl's secret obsessions, will be served with a side of Crispy Pork Belly with Chili Caramel. While watching a film from Ipoh in Malaysia, guests will taste what they see on the screen, as the chefs re-create the Tenden Meatballs, and the ever-popular popiah, a classic version of the Spring Roll shown in the film. In addition, Chef Jeff Meyer will be on site dishing up fresh fried Squid Chips as seen in the short film Squid Chips and Ryan Butler from Double Crown will re-create a dessert burrito popular in Southeast Asia, along with some other irresistible sweets. With many more items on the menu, it all adds up to the very best type of NYC Food Film Festival experience. Drinks include Beer by Tiger, Singha and Beerlao and Wine by Frederick Wildman.
