Operate A Home-based Bakery-online Micro Course
Cary, North Carolina -December 16, 2008 - How to Operate a Home-Based Bakery - Micro Course is back for anyone who want to learn to operate a successful home-based bakery.Start date January 5, 2009.
Economic times are growing unpredictable; with more people losing their jobs than ever before. Is there a solution? Ever thought of selling your special oatmeal butterscotch cookies or your grandma's delicious toffee? The Learning Design Group and Wake County Public School System Lifelong Learning Program is offering the course for bakers, personal chefs, or anyone who wants to operate a home-based bakery both online and in the classroom.
There are currently eleven states that allow home-based bakers to sell their baked goods directly to the public. The states are: Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, and Vermont. There are numerous counties across the United States that also allow bakers to operate a home-based bakery.
The course curriculum, offered by the Learning Design Group will cover compliance regulations, recipe development, food storage, food safety and sanitation; advertising/marketing, (press release design/alternative media submissions) branding, selling products online and more. The 4 week online course begins January 5, 2009 and ends January 31, 2009, and the course fee is $145.00. This course will run consecutively every month for 4 weeks through December 2009. The course is also available online through the Learning Design Group.
Instructor, Detra Denay Davis, a home-based baker specializing in pies insist, "this is the perfect course for anyone who loves to bake and would like to build a brand and operate a bakery from home." Previous students have included grandmothers with super delicious pound cakes selling for $35 each, and personal chefs who wanted to offer additional products to boost their bottom line.
The online course allows students flexibility so they can study at their own pace, learn from bakers all over the nation, work from the comfort of their home, and access their course from anywhere.
