Pennsylvania 6 Opens in The Nation’s Capital

Washington, D.C. (April 13, 2015) — Managing Partner Chris Coco is pleased to announce the late May anticipated opening of Pennsylvania 6, the 265-seat contemporary American restaurant located across from McPherson Square at 1350 I (Eye) Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20005. Coco is a member of the Public House Investments’ management team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which operates multiple restaurant concepts including the popular City Tap House in Washington, DC. Pennsylvania 6 will serve lunch, dinner and weekend brunch on both Saturday and Sunday.

Guests can anticipate a regional American menu prepared by Culinary Director Brian Cooke with specialties such as Foie Gras Mousse apple cider gelee, pickled shallots, pommery mustard; Hawaiian Spear Fish with avocado, ginger, hearts of palm, citrus and ceviche sauce; Wild Burgundy Snails with Logan Turnpike grits, charred scallions, Benton’s ham and parmesan cream; Roasted Bone Marrow with garlic herb crust, served with red onion jam; Lobster Roll with celery, green onion and mayonnaise, served on a buttered roll with duck fat fries; Lamb Tenderloin Roulade with Yukon gold potato puree, arugula pesto, zucchini and lamb sauce, and the Monkfish Osso Buco with maitake mushrooms, carrots, baby Tokyo turnips and truffle jus. Butcher selected steaks and chops reminiscent of classic steakhouse fare will also be available along with fresh local oysters, top neck clams, shrimp and crab cocktail, lobster and crudo, available at the six-seat raw bar.

The bar program at Pennsylvania 6 will offer classic libations with a twist. Guests can anticipate a culinary approach to classic mixology incorporating fresh, local, seasonal ingredients found in the homemade syrups and mixers. Each drink will come with its own history and origin. One of the featured cocktails is the Grapes of Wrath, made from a combination of bourbon, muddled grapefruit, brandied grapes, house grapefruit liquor and aromatic bitters. Cocktails will be priced from $12 to $16 each. There will also feature fourteen assorted craft beers available on draft and over 100 international wines including both old and new world varietals.

Coco is collaborating with local Designer Maggie O’Neill of SwatchRoom to create a "modern day supper club and bistro". Pennsylvania 6’s interior will feature timeless forms and finishes with a fresh spin on traditional concepts. Upon entering the restaurant, guests will be greeted by a dramatic 70-foot bar complete with Carrera marble and oak panels. Surrounding the bar, are a number of communal tables, a six-seat raw bar, intimate booths made for two, and an elevated 22-seat lounge complete with working fireplace. Black and white striped fabric drape from the ceiling along with hanging, custom milk glass chandeliers.

Past the bar, guests will see views of the oak paneled main dining room, open kitchen and private wine room, which will showcase bottles of wine from floor to ceiling. Additionally for private dining, Pennsylvania 6 will feature three distinctive dining rooms that can accommodate 25 guests, 35 guests, or 40 guests seperately. These dining venues have the ability to be combined to accommodate up to 100 guests for a seated dinner, or between 150 and 200 guests for a cocktail reception. The design of these private spaces was inspired by the rich legacy of the Cafe Rouge (the main dining room in the historic Pennsylvania Hotel). Paneled walls of black lacquered millwork, patinated mirrors, and layers of art complement the dramatic deep red floor and rich handsome upholstery.

Pennsylvania 6 is located at 1350 I (Eye) Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20005. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 a.m.; Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Brunch will begin at a later date, and will be served Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For reservations or additional information, please visit www.Pennsylvania6dc.com.
