Piero SelvaggioS Valentino Restaurant Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Piero Selvaggios award-winning Valentino opened on December 4, 1972 with little fanfare in an out-of-the-way location. Over the past thirty years it has evolved into one of the most acclaimed Italian restaurants in the United States, with perhaps the largest, most comprehensive Italian wine collection in the country.

Pieros passion to learn as much as possible about food and wine and bring the authentic flavors of Italy to America has always been the driving force behind the restaurants enduring success. He was one of the first restaurateurs to import Italian products, as well as introduce his customers to little known Italian wines. Renowned for its sophistication, warmth and outstanding service, Valentino is a reflection of Pieros personality and philosophy.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the restaurant has hosted a number of events throughout the fall, including special chef dinners and an international white truffle auction in conjunction with Alba and New York. The celebration culminates with a special 30th Anniversary Dinner on December 4, 2002 featuring Piemontese specialties and its glorious white truffles.

Special Guest Chef Walter Ferretto of the Michelin-starred Il Cascinale Nuovo from Isola dAsti, Piedmont, will prepare a six-course menu, featuring Yellow Squash Timballe with Parmigiano and White Truffles, Risotto with Barbera Wine and Quail Breast, Lamb Chops with Chestnuts and Truffles, traditional meat-filled Ravioli del Plin, and Hazelnut Spumone with Bittersweet Cacao.

The dinner, including champagne, is $150.00 and starts at 5:30pm. Tax and gratuity are additional. Seats are limited, please reserve early at 310-829-4313. Valentino is located at 3115 Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica. It is open for lunch on Fridays from 11:30am to 2:30pm and for dinner Monday to Saturday starting at 5:30pm.
