Portland Harbor Hotel's Ice Bar Grows To Accomdate Customer Demand
Portland, Maine (January 15, 2007) - Quebec has its famous Ice Hotel (www.icehotel-canada.com). Portland, Maine has the Ice Bar at Portland Harbor Hotel (www.gbritt.com/PHH/ice_bar.htm). Granted, not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, but the Ice Bar is rapidly becoming a popular tradition for Portlanders seeking a local, fun wintry event. The 2007 Ice Bar opens to the public Friday, January 26, at 4 p.m. and will also be open on Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m. (full schedule of events follows).
Portland Harbor Hotel chef and ice carver Jeff Landry, accompanied by professional ice carver Jeff Day(http://www.icedesigns-nh.com) will carve more than 7,000 lbs. of ice to create the Ice Bar again this year. And the plan, as conveyed by Chef Landry, is to borrow a phrase from Emeril and, "kick it up a notch!" To accommodate consumer demand for more icy entertainment at Portland Harbor Hotel, this year's Ice Bar is growing to include two working bars and nightly live entertainment. Two award-winning artists will perform: Joan Kennedy on Friday, January 26 and Pete Kilpatrick on Saturday, January 27.
