Presidents Day Events In Virginia

Virginia is the ideal place for families looking to spend some quality time together on an educational and fun getaway this Presidents Day weekend. Known as The Mother of Presidents, Virginia's presidential history is second to none, with eight U.S. presidents born right here in the Commonwealth - more than any other state.

Dozens of sites pay tribute to Virginia-born presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson. Iconic historic sites like Mount Vernon, Monticello, Montpelier, Berkeley Plantation and more offer insight into the way these early leaders lived, worked and governed.

Landscape of Slavery: Mulberry Row at Monticello - Charlottesville

Monticello's newest outdoor exhibition opens this Presidents Day weekend. The exhibition will bring to life the stories of the scores of peopleenslaved and freewho lived and worked on Jefferson's 5,000 acre plantation.

Presidents Weekend at Colonial Williamsburg - Williamsburg

Gather for music, meals, and special performances and mingle with these great leaders and their influential contemporaries, such as Patrick Henry and the Marquis de Lafayette.

George Washington Birthday Celebration Weekend - Alexandria

Alexandria celebrates its favorite son with a city-wide celebration, including a 10K race and Birthnight banquet and ball. On Presidents Day, the country's largest George Washington Birthday Parade makes its way through Old Town and several of the historic sites are open for free.

Walking with Washington Tours - Alexandria
