Putting The Last Piece In Place: The Kitchen Table At Brennan's Of Houston Is Back!

Brennan's of Houston has risen from the ashes of the two-alarm fire that struck their historic restaurant during Hurricane Ike in the fall of 2008 to great acclaim. Friends, old and new, have been celebrating the restoration of this beloved institution since its re-opening in February 2010. The celebration continues in the newly renovated Brennan's, as the famous Kitchen Table - that has charmed hundreds and inspired a cookbook - is ready again to welcome visitors into the heart of the restaurant.
Amongst the new tile and light fixtures, the revamped Kitchen Table offers a first-hand look behind-the-scenes at Brennan's, giving guests a great view of all the action from an intimate, semi-glassed off area. With seating for up to 12 people, the Kitchen Table will offer a 7-course tasting menu ($155 with wine pairing, $80 without) by Executive Chef Danny Trace. As always, Chef Trace's culinary creations will reflect the natural abundance of Texas and the distinct heritage of Louisiana.
The Kitchen Table is a long-standing tradition at Brennan's of Houston inspired by the Brennan's family home in New Orleans' Garden District and Owner Alex Brennan-Martin's extensive restaurant experience. For this family of restaurateurs, the kitchen is the center of action and the kitchen table, its heart. The Kitchen Table at Brennan's of Houston, established in 1991, comes from the idea of the kitchen table as a hub of activity and creation. By inviting guests into the domain of the chefs, Brennan's encourages a truly unique synergy between diner and chef that inspires great food and wonderful memories. The Kitchen Table became the centerpiece of Brennan's kitchen on the restaurant's 30th anniversary in 1997 and survived the fire in September 2008. Now it has been returned to its rightful place in the updated Brennan's kitchen.

The Kitchen Table is available for dinner from 5:45 p.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday (excluding holidays). To make reservations, guests may call the restaurant at 713-522-9711.

ABOUT BRENNAN'S OF HOUSTON

The Brennan's of Houston kitchen has explored the vast spectrum of Creole's evolution in the "Bayou City." Cultural influences in South Texas and an abundance of fresh produce unique to the region have provided ample opportunities for delicious Texas variations on time-honored Louisiana themes. Along the way, the passionate Brennan's team has received accolades establishing the restaurant as one of the finest in the city. Awards such as Exxon Mobil's Four-Star designation in 2000, and a nod from restaurant reporter John Mariani in 1997, who called former Executive Chef and General Manager Carl Walker "one of America's most influential chefs", are just two such accomplishments Brennan's counts on its list of accolades. Brennan's has also been regularly rated among Houston's "Best" and "Most Popular" restaurants in the Zagat Survey.
