Q Kitchen | Bar Beer Dinners Kick off with Karbach Brewing Company
A New Twist on Beer and BBQ
Q Kitchen | Bar Beer Dinners Kick off with Karbach Brewing Company
“We want to expose people to the restaurant while expanding the concept of the bar.”
--Stephen Drew, Food and Beverage Manager
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 1, 2014) – Hot summer days and cold beer go hand-in-hand. That’s why you won’t want to miss First Monday Beer and Dinner Pairings taking place at Q Kitchen | Bar in the Hyatt Regency hotel. The first event will be held on Monday, August 4 at 6 p.m. and will feature delicious food specifically created by Chef Russell Young to compliment a selection of Texas’ own Karbach Brewing Company beers.
“We believe in supporting Texas vendors,” said Hyatt Regency Food and Beverage Manager Stephen Drew, who added that currently, the Q bar features at least a dozen Texas beers on tap and more than 50 by the bottle. “Our primary bar focus is on beer and bourbon,” he said.
It’s Not Just for Backyard Entertaining
Traditionally, beer has leant itself to backyard cookouts, burgers and barbeques. But just as Q Restaurant has elevated barbeque to a new level, the Q Bar is redefining the way we serve beer.
“Typically, people associate wine with a sit down dinner,” said Drew. “However, there are many varieties and profiles of beer available today that lend themselves just as beautifully to food pairing.”
Guests will first experience this blending of beer and food with a reception in the Q Bar where they will sample the clean, bold flavor of Karbach’s Sympathy Lager, the intensity of the Rodeo Clown IPA, and the delicate, refreshing taste of Love Street Summer Seasonal. Delicious appetizers will be available for noshing, and include crispy potato and charred corn spring rolls served with sweet jalapeño ketchup, a Karbach glazed pork belly, and Brazos Valley smoked Gouda cheese sticks.
Following the reception, guests will make their way to the restaurant for a three-course dinner that will forever change the way they think about how they drink beer. In short? It isn’t just for burgers and wings!
To begin, the chef is presenting seared scallops served atop a rich avocado mousse, topped with a tangy citrus salsa and drizzled with olive oil. The combination of flavors and textures is enhanced by the smooth taste of Karbach’s Weekend Warrior Pale Ale.
A hearty house smoked strip steak is the centerpiece of the second course, and it is accompanied by a horseradish and pecan risotto, Hopadillo glace, and crispy Brussels sprouts. The richness of the steak is balanced by Karbach’s bitter Hopadillo IPA.
For dessert, a decadent caramelized white chocolate ice cream/roasted banana cake topped with milk powder and served with a salty praline will satisfy the most demanding sweet tooth. The spicy, citrus taste of the Weisse Versa Wheat beer compliments this sweet/salty combination beautifully.
“Our chef has come up with some really amazing dishes that allow the profiles of both the foods and the beers to shine,” described Drew. “It will change the way that people think about serving beer with sit down dinners.”
Tickets are available at $49 per person and can be purchased by calling Q Kitchen | Bar at 210-510-4477.
