Randolph's Bar & Lounge Honors The Inimitable Julia Child With Aug. 15 Birthday Dinner, Month-long Prix Fixe And Giveaways

Julia Child introduced French cuisine to the American public with her breakthrough tome Mastering the Art of French Cooking and went on to become one of the greatest television stars of all time. Warwick New York Hotel is certainly no stranger to stars, having been built in 1926 for the express purpose of hosting Hollywood glitterati. And through Aug. 31, Randolph's Bar & Lounge is honoring Julia with a three-course "Julia du Jour" dinner. Priced at $36 per person (exclusive of tax and gratuity wine pairings available for an additional $18 per person), the prix fixe menu includes:

Amuse - blinis with creme fraiche: smoked salmon with dill

Salad - salade Nicoise: seared Tuna over mesclun, artichoke, haricot vert, Nicoise olive, hardboiled eggs, potato and virgin olive oil

Entree - boeuf Bourguignon: short ribs braised in red wine, pearl onions, carrot, lardons and mushrooms pommes Anna

Dessert - Julia Child's orange and almond cup cake


And to celebrate Julia's 100th birthday, a special four-course dinner featuring some of her favorites will be served on Aug. 15. Priced at $52 per person (exclusive of tax and gratuity; wine pairings available for an additional $18 per person), the menu includes:

Amuse - pissaladiere: onion pizza with anchovies

Appetizers - soup of Leeks with summer truffles; artichauts braises a la Provencale: braised artichoke in garlic and olive oil

Main Course - boeuf braise Prince Albert: braised beef tenderloin with foie gras and truffles

Dessert - souffle glace a l'orange: frozen orange souffle
