Rats (on Roller Skates) Invade John Howie's Sport Restaurant May 4th For Dawn Fundraiser

Chef/author John Howie is welcoming a rat invasion with open arms. This is no trap - these Rats are female and on roller skates. Howie's SPORT Restaurant & Bar has paired with The Rat City Roller Girls to host a fundraising night of sips, snacks and signings in order raise awareness for DAWN, the Domestic Abuse Women's Network. Tickets are available for purchase at SPORT, where the Friday, May 4 event will be held from 7 to 9 pm. They include admission, two signature cocktails inspired by the "Rat Pack", light appetizers, an opportunity to meet some of the team stars, and a raffle for great prizes. Priced at $20 per person, $5 from each ticket will go to Dawn as will all of the proceeds from the $5 raffle tickets. Prizes include gift certificates to SPORT, John Howie Steak and Seastar Restaurant & Raw Bar as well as a basket of Roller Girl memorabilia, tickets to an upcoming bout and merchandise certificates.

Among the roller skating favorites who will be autographing are Yoko Ono'udint, Sun Shiner, Hard Cora, Killah Kelly, Belle Tolls and Sara Problem. The Rat City Roller Girls consist of four home teams and one all-star team. Yoko Ono'udint is co-captain of the Derby Liberation Front; Sara Problem is a member of the Grave Danger; Hard Cora and Killah Kelly skate as Throttle Rockets; and Belle Tolls and Sun Shiner are vintage hot rod mechanics on the Sockit Wenches.

The evening's beneficiary, DAWN, leads efforts in south King County communities to end domestic violence by providing the critical services and education for survivors to make informed choices about their future and engaging communities to raise awareness and take action. In 2011, DAWN served a total of 16,235 clients including 12,344 bed nights.

 219 women and their families at DAWN's House, our emergency confidential shelter;
