The Red Hen Is Now Open for Lunch


The Red Hen, Lexington's first and only farm-to-table restaurant, is pleased to announce that it is now open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 to 2:00.

Each day, Executive Chef Tucker Yoder crafts a lunch menu featuring affordable, healthy fare based around the best available meat and produce of the area's farms.

Reservations are recommended for parties of six or more.

About the Red Hen:
The Red Hen is the area's first farm-to-table restaurant, featuring the bounty of the Shendandoah region's most talented farmers.

Each day, Chef Tucker Yoder crafts a new menu based on the freshest and tastiest produce and meat, whether it is a ribeye steak from cattle raised by the Potter family, who have been farming in nearby Collierstown for seven generations, or a beet risotto using vegetables handpicked by Brendan Perry of Stonehouse Farm. This dedication to local food means each dish preserves the intricate flavors of the land. (It's also good for the environment and our local economy.) Chef Yoder, a veteran of some of the best restaurants in the state including OXO Restaurant, The Boar's Head Inn, and the Clifton Inn, uses these ingredients to create dishes that are forward-thinking, yet accessible.

The Red Hen is among a small group of restaurants selected to be a part of the Virginia Green program. Inside the restaurant, the majority of the wood used in the space, including the dining room tables, has been re-harvested from other area buildings. Water-saving appliances and composting procedures make certain that the restaurant maintains a commitment to the health of the environment. The Red Hen is a member of the nationwide 1% For the Planet program,
donating a percentage of its gross revenue to local and national environmental organizations.
