The Reign Of The Queen Of Caribbean Seafood Continues With New Lobster Festivals At Rosewood Little Dix Bay

Monthly tributes to local Anegada lobster from dockside to plate on schedule for 2011, with special lobster "tasting menus" by Executive Chef Hemant Dadlani

Maine lobster may be the king of seafood in the States, but the Anegada lobster is queen of the Caribbean blue - and no place celebrates her reign like Rosewood Little Dix Bay. The beachfront resort on Virgin Gorda, B.V.I. - ranked #2 among the Top 20 Beach Resorts worldwide in the 2010 Readers' Choice survey of Harper's Hideaway Report - is following last year's success with a NEW season-long series of monthly Lobster Festivals. Guests can savor the succulence of the Caribbean Lobster as they follow dinner from dockside to plate. Strap on your bibs and sharpen your seafood forks - it's going to be a mouthful!

Often swimming in the shadows of those broad-clawed, "true lobsters" to the north, Anegada lobsters are spiny and pincer-free, with long, thick, beautiful antennae. The indigenous lobsters are particularly prolific around Anegada, the northernmost of the British Virgin Islands, hence their name. With their capacity to grow to great size, in the right hands, Anegadas are considered a Caribbean delicacy.

Hugely popular, Lobster Festivals were first introduced by Rosewood Little Dix Bay earlier this year. They will continue for the season starting every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from November 2010 through July 2011. The festive tributes begin with a meet and greet with local lobstermen returning with tail-flapping catch to the private half-mile beach at Rosewood Little Dix Bay. Guests have the opportunity to select their own lobster to be tagged by resort culinary staff and shuttled to the kitchen for dinner. Guests can order their chosen crustaceans during their stay, and Executive Chef Hemant Dadlani will see that the lobsters are cooked to mouth-watering perfection.

Chef Hemant and his team will also reveal how enticing Anegadas can be with a sprawling lobster display at the Pavilion Restaurant. A special tasting menu featuring eight distinctive dishes prepared both hot and cold will include Broiled Lobster with Cajun Butter, Tamarind and Chili Lobster Tail with Tarro Root, and Coconut and Lime Leaf Poached Anegada Lobster with Jasmine Rice and Bitter Greens. Accompanied by a well-paired glass from the Pavilion wine list and open-air sea views, each Lobster Festival will be a feast to remember.

Winter rates at Rosewood Little Dix Bay start at $635 per night. For more information or to make reservations at Rosewood Little Dix Bay, please contact (888) ROSEWOOD or visit www.littledixbay.com.
