Arlington, Virginia (October 6, 2008) - Classic American cuisine accented with innovative, regional twists promises to draw in the diners at Restaurant 3 in Arlington, Virginia. The 221-seat, family-owned establishment features a stunning art deco design, evoking the dining era of the 1930's with creatively crafted cuisine and a welcoming dining atmosphere.
The dining area at Restaurant 3 is divided between three distinct rooms; the sunny Garfield Room with its dramatic turn of the century Brunswick bar and high, arched ceilings; the traditional Brunswick Room or the main dining room with a smaller art deco bar, leather cabana-style seating booths and richly colored walls painted in warm yellow and beige; and the quaint Clarendon Room with an inviting stone fireplace, slate floors and vaulted wooden ceilings. Each of the rooms, designed by the architectural team of Michael Foster and David Wolfel, retains its own identity while simultaneously flowing into the other, and creating a vibrant and energetic ambiance.
Co-owners Jonathan Williams and Greg Cahill set out to create a restaurant where diners could feel at home and enjoy a fun, unpretentious dining experience. The dishes at the restaurant mirror their sentiment. Executive Chef Brian Robinson was given carte blanche with menu development, and drew upon his travels and experiences working with other family-owned restaurants in the Washington, DC area to come up with a classic American menu that showcased the best of regional cuisine. Dishes like scallops and grits, duck breast with sweet potato hash and Texas rub bone-in ribeye with a potato, artichoke and asparagus ragout hint at unique and satisfying meals.
John Donnelly, the restaurant's Wine Director and General Manager compiled a wine list that would best reflect the restaurant's innovatively classic American menu without being intimidating. The carefully planned list focuses on small production American wineries like the Bruce Wayne winery and the Starry Night winery. Donnelly, a self-proclaimed fan of American wines, is committed to constantly supplementing the wine list and giving guests the chance to sample the best American wines from across the country.
The American craft beers and refreshing cocktails set the stage for a vibrant bar atmosphere and the classic American dishes with regional accents promise a unique dining experience.
