Chef Linton Hopkins Opens for "Sunday Supper" Spotlighting Traditional Georgia Cuisine
ATLANTA (November 17, 2005) - Chef Linton Hopkins has firmly established himself amongst a new generation of Southerners: those who seek innovation, while remembering and honoring the well-established traditions that have been passed down to them. If Chef Hopkins has a trademark, it is the influence of his Georgia heritage on every dish he creates. His deeply-rooted sense of Southern pride has inspired him to open the doors of Restaurant Eugene on Sunday evenings to receive guests for a traditional Southern supper - the way only a true Southerner could do it.
Chef Hopkins strives to treat his company to a celebration of iconic regional cuisine and the type of warm hospitality that the South is famous for. The "Sunday Supper" menu preserves age-old Georgian recipes, some passed down from Hopkins' own family, including his legendary grandfather, Eugene Holeman, for whom Restaurant Eugene is named.
Like any good home-cooked meal, Sunday Suppers at Restaurant Eugene are country to the core. The focus is on the food, which means no ornate presentation or complicated displays, just perfectly-prepared dishes and good company. For $29.50 (plus tax and tip), guests can enjoy a choice of entries, sides and desserts. Entrees include traditional favorites like Country Fried Chicken with White Pepper Gravy and Hopkins' family recipes like Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder with Aunt Julia's BBQ Sauce. Guests can choose sides from a list that features sweet potatoes, green bean casserole and turnip green soup - best when sopped up with homemade cornbread muffins or a yeast buttermilk roll, which are served with every meal. And, of course, no Southern meal would be complete without a slice of red velvet cake or an old-fashioned ice cream sundae for dessert. To give their company time for a leisurely meal, Restaurant Eugene's Sunday Suppers start at 5:00 p.m. and last until 9:00 p.m.

Restaurant Eugene opened in 2004 when husband and wife Gina and Linton Hopkins moved to Atlanta from Washington, D.C. with the dream of opening a restaurant. Named after Linton's grandfather, Restaurant Eugene boasts a seasonally- changing menu, with the freshest, high-quality ingredients. Embracing a family-owned environment, the restaurant strives to create a sense of community and Southern hospitality for each and every guest.
