San Francisco's Presidio Social Club Announces Wes Shaw As Executive Chef
Presidio Social Club proudly announces the appointment of Chef Wes Shaw as Executive Chef. In a serendipitous pairing, Chef Wes' background reflects much of the concept behind Presidio Social Club. Working with Owner/Founding Chef Ray Tang, Chef Wes is updating the restaurant's menu with new dishes while evolving the seasonal touches in existing classics from Ray's original vision for Presidio Social Club.
Originally hailing from Texas, Chef Wes spent seven years in the US Military Service before finally settling in Bay Area. He brings his Southern background, an eclectic culinary knowledge from his travels and a genuine kinship for the farming and food community in the Bay Area to his role at the Presidio Social Club. Since settling in San Francisco, Chef Wes has forged strong relationships with local farmers and has brought this sustainable and personal focus to the Presidio Social Club while collaborating with Owner/Founding Chef Ray Tang on the ongoing evolution of the menu.
"Presidio Social Club is intended to have a vintage, officers-club feel as a reflection of its location in the historic Presidio of San Francisco," says Owner Ray Tang. "It's fitting how similar Wes' own story is to the thinking behind the restaurant. He is simultaneously breathing a new sense of relevance into the menu as well as truly celebrating the history of our five year-old restaurant."
In addition to a variety of new purveyors, Wes is subtly updating the Presidio Social Club's classic menu with such dishes as the Bone-in Ribeye Steak for Two and Market Whole Fish Special. Additionally, Tuesday nights now feature his Beef Brisket, a direct representation of his Texas upbringing and part of the restaurant's Weeknight Supper series. Chef Wes has also developed a series of lighter options to add to the menu, evolving the salad selections and sourcing from local farmers, while reinvigorating classics such as the Roasted Half Chicken and Pork Porterhouse with local products and seasonal accompaniments. Presidio Social Club favorites such as the Macaroni and Cheese and Meatloaf remain classically delicious and available nightly.
