Schoggi Brings Luxurious Swiss Chocolates
to Downtown San Francisco
San Francisco, CA - March 10, 2008 - Schoggi - Imported Swiss Chocolates officially opens its doors on Thursday, March 27, 2008. Offering luxury Swiss chocolates, Schoggi is the first true Swiss confiserie in San Francisco and the latest addition to the arts and culture scene emerging around the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Schoggi Confiserie is located on Yerba Buena Lane, a new high-end pedestrian mall right next to the Four Seasons Hotel and near the new Jewish Heritage Museum, Metreon, and Moscone Center.
Schoggi offers more than 60 varieties of chocolate pralines and truffles as well as typical Swiss petite pastries, Luxemburgerli (French macarons), pate de fruits, and European-style coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Schoggi's chocolates are handmade by a small producer in Bern from 100-year-old recipes. Our collection includes traditional milk and dark chocolates, as well as chocolates sporting more exotic flavors such as green tea, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Some highlights are the popular Signature Caramel, liquid caramel in a chocolate cup; the Mandarin, a praline containing a pearl of crystallized sugar and mandarin liqueur; and our Classic Swiss Truffles, which are more buttery and rich than contemporary truffles.
Schoggi's varieties get their unique flavor from high-quality ingredients, including chocolate made with fresh Swiss milk and cream that impart the distinctive sweetness of alpine clover. The chocolates are stored in custom-made humidors to maintain their peak freshness and flavor.
"Part of Swiss culture is the confiserie, a meeting place where people come to enjoy small bites of the very best chocolate and pastry with a good cup of coffee or tea," says proprietor and Basel, Switzerland native Dominik Schieweck. "When I moved to San Francisco, I missed the conviviality of my local confiserie, so I decided to open my own. Plus, it's a natural fit for the city because San Franciscans have a highly developed appreciation for gourmet foods."
Named for the Swiss-German nickname for chocolate, Schoggi Confiserie is located at 87 Yerba Buena Lane in downtown San Francisco. The confiserie is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, go to www.schoggi.us or call 415.243.4444.
