Sfm Recognizes Industry Leaders

Onsite foodservice industry leaders were recognized for achievement, innovation and service during the 24th annual Society for Foodservice Management (SFM) Presidents Banquet, which was held during the associations conference in Anaheim, Calif. recently.

During this gala presentation, the following awards were given:

The SFM Directors Award for Community Service recognizes active participation in community and civic affairs by a member whose contributions characterize him or her as a true humanitarian. Selected for the award this year was Mark H. Maloney of Compass Group in Philadelphia.

The SFM Directors Awards for Spirit are presented to individuals who consistently demonstrate qualities of loyalty, dedication and enthusiasm for the Society. Honored this year were Gayle Swain of Cambro Manufacturing Company in Huntington Beach, Calif. and Edward Daniels of PRO-TEK in Hicksville, NY.

The SFM Award for Leadership recognizes a member whose work on behalf of SFM and the onsite foodservice industry has resulted in the demonstration of outstanding leadership qualities. This years recipient is Carol Bracken-Tilley with Motorola, Inc. in Schaumburg, Ill.

The Richard Ysmael Award for Distinguished Service is given for exceptional service to the onsite industry. This year the award honored Patricia Burke of Basic American Foods in Walnut Creek, Calif.

The Presidents Award, given at the presidents discretion for support, was presented to Susan Schneider of Starbucks Coffee Company in Stroudsburg, PA and Peg Plaut of FSA Group in Louisville, Ky.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes a lifetime of contributions and service to the onsite foodservice industry. This years recipient was Kenneth Lapin of Sara Lee Coffee & Tea in Westlake Village, Calif.
