Is hosting THE HEB Culinary Experience To teach and entertain the public about SEAFOOD Cooking and to help make SEAFOOD a daily regimen.

You are invited to apply for a chance to present your award winning seafood recipes and win an award and prizes at the H.E.B & Shrimporee Culinary Experience.

Awards are:
1st Place - $3000, trophy,tca gold medal
2nd Place - $1500,trophy,tca silver medal
3rd Place - $750, trophy, tca bronze medal

Showmanship - $250 and trophy

Contest Rules

1. This seafood-cooking contest is divided into two stages. Stage 1 is a recipe to qualify for Stage 2. First send in your recipe no later than August 17, 2001. The judges will then select the top 20 recipes and the winners will be notified no later than August 18, 2001 that they have qualified to move to Stage 2. The top 20 recipe winners will then be asked to proceed to Stage 2 at their own expense. You will be invited to participate in the 52nd Annual Shrimporee & H.E.B. Culinary Experience, September 14, 15, 16 in Aransas Pass, Texas.

2. There is NO Entry Fee for entering Stage 1or Stage 2.

3. Entrants must be at least 18 years old and must be able to visually and verbally present their recipes to an audience.

4. All entries and material submitted become the property of the Official Shrimporee of Texas. Entrants and recipe winners will be published at the sponsor's discretion with chef recognition.

5. Stage 1 judging will be based on originality and ease of preparation. All decisions of the judges will be final.

6. Recipes for Stage 1 may be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to: (Deadline - August 17, 2001)

7. Stage 2 Judging will be based on

1. Plate presentation 1 to 20 points
2. Taste (aroma, texture, flavor) 1 to 20 points
3. Workmanship 1 to 10 points
4. Show presentation 1 to 20 points

Judges will be provided scorecards. Judges will tally all votes and determine winners.

8. Prize presentation will take place after the final judge's tallies are recorded. Presentations will be made on Sunday, September 16, 2001 at or before 5:00 p.m. at the Culinary Stage.

* First place: $3000.00, trophy and TCA gold medal
* Second place: $1500.00, trophy and TCA silver medal
* Third place: $750.00.00, trophy and TCA bronze medal
* Showmanship: $250.00 and a trophy

9. The Sponsors will supply
1. Reimbursement for ingredients for your recipe (receipts needed).
2. Preparation station.
3. Gas range, gas char broiler, electric fryer, and an electric oven.

10. Contestants must prepare their recipe in 30 minutes. Two plate presentations, one for the judges and one for samples. (Pre prep as much as possible before your allotted recipe showing).

11. Contestants must supply

1. His/her own transportation
2. Pots, pans, utensils, plates
3. Special condiments, and plate presentation materials
4. Ingredients for recipes
5. Pre prep all recipes, just before each show
6. A publishable typed recipe
7. Brief bio (name, address, work, work experience, etc.)
8. Contestants must wear chef's whites and topes. (There is an overhead mirror, short topes are preferable.)

12. Contestants must be available 1 hour before their presentation time. (Traffic is heavy at peak times. Keep that in mind, on your arrival).

13. Presentation time for each contestant will be given at time of acceptance of Stage 2. Stage 2 participants will be announced by August 27, 2001.
