On Monday, April 30, 2007 Lakeview bistro, Socca (3301 N. Clark Street) will host a five-course prix fixe dinner paired with award-winning Masi Venetian Wines, including their renowned Pinot Grigio blend Masianco and their limited production Grand Cru Amarone Mazzano. Dinner costs $65 per person and begins at 6:30 p.m. For reservations, guests may contact Socca at (773) 248 -1155.
Venetian Wine Company Masi specializes in modern wines with an ancient heart. Crafted in a contemporary style but cultivated with an unwavering commitment to regional tradition, the premium quality wines have an abundance of personality and originality as a result of the finally selected grapes from indigenous varieties of the Verona Region.
Chef Herring's five-course Menu includes:
FIRST COURSE
Scallop Carpaccio with Mache Salad, Drizzled with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Shaved Parmigano
Wine: Masianco Pinot Grigio Blend
SECOND COURSE
Porcini Dusted Halibut on Grilled Fennel with a Mushroom Chive Nage
Wine: 2003 MASI Campofiorin
THIRD COURSE
Masi Amarone Braised Veal Cheek on a Cold Ratatouille with Toasted Pine Nuts

FOURTH COURSE

FIFTH COURSE:
Blueberry Almond Crostada Topped with Vanilla Bean Gelato
A specialty of Masi and paired with the evening's second course, the 2003 Campofiorin is a light to medium-bodied red wine which boasts bright scents of cherries with a dusting of cinnamon, backed by silky tannins and delicate minerality. The 2001 Costasera Amarone Classico, paired with Chef Herring's third course, is Masi's main Amarone bottling. Toasted almonds and ripe cherries mark the nose, while the structure of the wine is round and lush. Each Masi wine has unique character, while maintaining the style of the region and has earned recognition for having "revolutionized the art of wine-making in the Veneto."
Socca's Venetian Wine Dinner will offer a truly exceptional night of "wining and dining" where guests have the opportunity to speak with Socca Owner and Sommelier Keith Ross as well as the Masi Winemaker who will be discussing Masi Wines and speaking with guests.
