St. Supiry Wins Best Californian Sauvignon Blanc At The California State Fair
St. Supry Vineyards & Winery has claimed title to the Best Californian at the California State Fair Wine Competition for their 2000 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. St. Supry's Sauvignon Blanc received a near perfect score of 98 points and a double gold medal from the judges. One of the world's top wine events, the competition was held on June 22nd-24th and featured 2,247 wines, 126 of which were Sauvignon Blancs. Final results were announced on July 24th.
This Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc reflects the dedication and consistency to high quality for which St. Supry Winery is known. Winemaker Michael Scholz produces a unique style of Sauvignon Blanc that focuses on expressive fruit balanced by good acidity, with a satisfying mid-palate. The 2000 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($16.00) offers vibrant aromas of fresh green lime and citrus. The flavors are full and round with refreshing notes of citrus, a rich middle and a crisp grapefruit finish.
The St. Supry 2000 Sauvignon Blanc has also received high praise from the media and in other competitions this year. Epicurean Magazine awarded the wine 95 points, California Grapevine Magazine gave it 90 points, and it has secured Gold medals at the Los Angeles County Fair (May 2001), the Orange County Fair (June 2001) and San Francisco International Wine Competition (June 2001).
St. Supry's 2000 Sauvignon Blanc, as well as its other award winning wines such as the 1997 Dollarhide Ranch Limited Edition Cabernet Sauvignon, the 1999 Napa Valley Chardonnay and the 1997 Napa Valley Red Meritage, are available nationally and online at www.stsupery.com.
