Executive Chef John Schenk Earns Top Position, Announces New Chef to Take Over His Reins in Houston




The ultra sexy Strip House Houston announces some exciting promotions and additions to Houston's favorite steakhouse. Executive Chef John Schenk was recently named Corporate Executive Chef of the Strip House concept with restaurants in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Las Vegas and Houston.

The new position is well-deserved for the culinary expert who has served as Executive Chef for Strip House Houston since it's opening in November 2004. Prior to becoming Executive Chef for Strip House Houston, John began his career at Hayes Street Grill in San Francisco. He then moved to New York and became the executive sous chef at Gotham Bar and Grill where he credits his culinary vision was nurtured. Schenk later received three-stars from the New York Times for his work at West Broadway and was chef/owner at Clementine in Greenwich Village. Continuing his expertise and culinary vision to the titillating steak house, John Schenk will over-see Strip House's New York, Palm Beach, Houston and Las Vegas locations.

Taking over the reins in the kitchen at Strip House Houston is Chef Steven Vanderpool, whose is returning to Houston after six years as Executive Chef and part owner of Cuvee Beach Cellar & Wine Bar, in Destin, Florida. Prior experience includes Palace Cafi in New Orleans, Houston's La Reserve, and Chef de Cuisine at Houston's Sake Lounge where Chef Vanderpool put the restaurant on the map, when it was named one of Esquire's "Best New Restaurants of 1998." A graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, Chef Steven joins Strip House Houston beginning October 15, 2006.
