Superstar Mexican Chef Preparing A Gastronomic Surprise For Hotel Matilda's March 16

Hotel Matilda (www.hotelmatilda.com) has fired a reputation in Mexico as a culinary innovator and a destination for gourmands with its "Supper Clubs" that feature famous guest chefs and extravagant menus. On March 16, 2012, the cutting-edge boutique hotel will host its most sizzling hot Supper Club yet when a superstar Mexican chef comes to town to work his culinary magic in Hotel Matilda's kitchen.

Jose Manuel Banos is the chef of Pitiona, the Oaxacan restaurant that has exploded onto the Mexican dining scene and been anointed with international recognition. Chef Banos' cuisine is the talk of Mexico and the recipient of awards from top magazines in 2011: Conde Nast Traveler named Pitiona to its Hot Tables and Best New Restaurants in the World lists; Beau Blanc ranked it one of the Top Eight Restaurants in Mexico; and Travel + Leisure named Chef Banos one of Mexico's most promising young chefs.

The native of Oaxaca, who has worked in leading restaurants in Spain (including renowned El Bulli and Arzak), France and Mexico, conveys his love and devotion for Oaxaca through his food. His inspired meals are a gastronomic journey through this Mexican state.

Hotel Matilda, the trend-setting contemporary hotel located in the heart of 500-year-old San Miguel de Allende, holds Supper Clubs regularly throughout the year. The one-of-a-kind dining events may feature anything from a acclaimed guest chef to an organic farm-to-table experience.

Chef Banos will be preparing a special multi-course menu for the March 16 Supper Club. Hotel Matilda Executive Chef Jorge Boneta will be collaborating with Chef Banos to design the epicurean culinary evening.
