The Surf Shack's Executive Chef Matthew Purcell At Loaves & Fishes Cookshop

The Surf Shack's (2095 Montauk Hwy., Amagansett, NY 11930, [631] 267-6980) Executive Chef Matthew Purcell will be giving a cooking demonstration on Saturday July 26th from 12-2 p.m. at Loaves & Fishes in Bridgehampton. Purcell will be demonstrating some of his seafood specialties. There is no charge for this demonstration.

About the chef: Matthew Philip Purcell is the Executive Chef at Surf Shack in Amagansett New
 York. Purcell was born and raised in Gramercy Park, Manhattan and has been 
working in restaurants since high school. After experiencing both sides of 
the house, Matthew decided his true calling was in the kitchen, and that his
 passion for fine dining cuisine was aroused by the avant-garde and modern 
technique. Growing up only two city blocks from the famed Union Square 
Greenmarket, he became very well acquainted with fresh, seasonal produce at
 a young age. A fourth generation entrepreneur, Matthew has absorbed much in 
his short tenure in the industry and continues to learn, investigate and 
innovate with an almost scientific approach to thinking about the restaurant
 business. Purcell�s inspiration, drive and dedication to pursue success in this 
business are rooted in my passion to serve and make others happy. For him that passion manifests itself in the kitchen and in the food him and his
 staff work so hard to craft and perfect everyday. He truly believes food 
service requires a level of care and intimacy rarely found in other business
 endeavors.
