Sushi Nozawa Opens Tokyo-style, Casual Sugarfish In Marina Del Rey
Sushi Nozawa, LLC, a Los Angeles based company, is pleased to announce that sugarFISH by sushiNozawa, its first traditionally focused, moderately priced sushi restaurant, will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week beginning June 23th at the Waterside in Marina Del Rey (4722 Admiralty Way, 90292).
sugarFISH is the collaboration of Kazunori Nozawa, legendary owner of Sushi Nozawa, and technology and new media entrepreneur Jerry A. Greenberg. In the crowded restaurant marketplace where there seems to be nothing new under the sun, sugarFISH is a new kind of Japanese dining experience. This casual dining restaurant offers the highest quality, traditional sushi dishes served in a comfortable, contemporary Californian setting at a modest price point. sugarFISH makes authentic sushi accessible to a broad audience.
Chef Kazunori Nozawa's classic sushi preparations at Sushi Nozawa have earned the acclaim of Southern California diners and critics for two decades as well as top ratings in the annual Zagat surveys. Nozawa has created a fervently loyal fan base at Sushi Nozawa, founded on what the New York Times calls "the fish, the freshest from the world's waters." sugarFISH puts Nozawa's amazing sushi on its menu at a modest price.
According to Nozawa, "My son Tom and I have used our long-term relationships with the best Japanese importers to maximize quality and lower costs by eliminating the distributor/middleman." Nozawa himself will supervise buying, cutting, and storing the fish to his exacting standards.
sugarFISH retains the "Omakase" tradition of having the sushi chef select the menu, creating efficiencies that allow the restaurant to deliver great sushi at a good price. Nozawa has authored a simple, focused menu based on his uncompromising "Trust Me" approach. In a new twist, diners can chose from three omakase "Trust Me" menus priced to include tip and tax. Guests will know what they are being served and what their total price is, simplifying the dining experience, and eliminating unwanted surprises.
The sugarFISH vision is based on the awareness that sushi-which has grown from a narrow niche 15 years ago to a larger dining category with thousands of restaurants and retail outlets - is primed to take the next step. In the casual dining category whose leaders include California Pizza Kitchen, The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, and Houston's, sugarFISH intends to become the first sushi restaurant that offers uncompromising quality and value to a national audience. Great sushi can be an everyday luxury.
