Sustainable Spirits At Home: The West Village's Home Restaurant Features A Local Beverage Program, Curated By Beverage Director Rachel Dreskin

Local and sustainable menus have, for quite some time, been an appealing dining trend. Now, a quaint neighborhood restaurant in Manhattan's West Village is taking this practice a step further, offering an almost entirely local beverage program. With an extensive wine list as well as a full bar and creative cocktail list featuring locally sourced spirits, Home Restaurant has been one step ahead of the earth-conscious local trend for 19 years.

"Home is a true farm-to-table restaurant, and since we are so dedicated to showcasing the abundance of sustainably and responsibly produced ingredients from New York's own agriculturally rich region, it seemed only natural to reflect this passion in our beverage program as well," says Beverage Director Rachel Dreskin.

Guests will find a generous selection of affordable boutique and small production wines sourced from the New York area, with a strong focus on regional viniculture. Dreskin travels to wineries in the Hudson Valley, Finger Lakes and North Fork to find the best picks season to season that compliment Home's uber-seasonal cuisine. Almost all beers and spirits are locally sourced as well, with selections sourced from Schmaltz Brewing Co., River Horse Brewing Co., Tuthilltown Spirits, Finger Lakes Distilling and Prohibition Distillery.

"The thought and effort that goes into the wines and spirits lists is what really makes our beverage program stand out," says owner Dominick D'Alleva. "It's the local wine list, the carefully curated list of local bourbons and all of the hand mixed cocktails that feature vodkas and gins from our own neighbors that come together to create a program that you really can't get anywhere else."

All of Home Restaurant's signature cocktails are also made with fruit and herb infusions featuring locally-sourced produce, and like everything else offered at the restaurant, they too rotate seasonally.
