Suzanne Goin And Caroline Styne Announce Gavin Mills As Tavern Chef De Cuisine Former Wood And Vine Chef Joins The Goin / Styne Family
LOS ANGELES, California; October 25, 2012 - Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, owners of the popular Tavern in Brentwood, announce the arrival of Gavin Mills as the new Chef de Cuisine of the restaurant, effective November 13, 2012.
Mills, most recently the chef at Wood and Vine, was raised in England and holds an impressive resume that includes work in several prestigious restaurants, including the Michelin star 1 Lombard Street in London; The Peninsula Grill in Charleston; South Carolina; Mas in New York City and the former Bastide in West Hollywood. His diversified background brings a passion for regional American cuisines, the usage of classic French technique and a shared love of the Southern California Farmers' Markets.
Goin and Styne selected Mills after a series of interviews with potential candidates and agreed on their decision following a tasting showcasing the chef's talents. "We knew that Gavin would fit easily into the sensibility of what we try to do at Tavern," said Goin. "And he has a clear understanding of my style, which is critical for anyone Caroline and I depend on that will represent our restaurants. I'm confident that he can cook and plate my recipes exactly as I intend them to be presented. " Mills replaces Dennis Kelly, an integral part of the Tavern kitchen since its opening in 2009, who served as the Chef de Cuisine for the past year.
