Sweet Marguerites Named 2010 Sofi Award Finalists In Two Categories.

Sweet Marguerites, a Maine artisanal chocolate company was recently awarded two Silver 2010 sofi Awards from NASFT. Sofi Awards, which stand for Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation, recognize excellence in specialty foods and beverages and are considered the highest honor in the specialty food industry.
This year's competition was stiff. NASFT members submitted 1,570 products, in over 30 different categories. Sweet Marguerites received a Silver sofi Award for their 12 piece Assorted Chocolates in the "Chocolate" category and another for their 12 piece Fleur de Sel Caramels in the "Food Gift" category. The company is also a finalist for Gold awards in both categories, which will be announced at a special Red Carpet event at the Summer Fancy Food Show in June, 2010.
"We are incredibly excited about this recognition", says chocolatier Marguerite Swoboda, "and so happy that our small company was noticed in the $63 billion specialty foods industry. We encourage other small, Maine companies to showcase their products too!"
"The field was very competitive, with entries up 12 percent from 2009. The finalists represent the breadth and quality of our members' distinctive products," said Ann Daw, president of the NASFT. "It is clear that our industry is moving forward with innovation, inspiration and creativity."
