ABOUT DEMETRIA ESTATE WINERY:
Established in 2005, Demetria Estate is a family owned winery. Demetria strives
to produce wines of distinction and character rivaling those of the world’s greatest estates. Artfully crafted to showcase the unique growing conditions of the Santa Ynez Valley and Sta. Rita Hills, Demetria believes that low yields, sustainable and biodynamic farming practices, and gentle winemaking produce wines of exceptional quality.

Demetria Estate grew out of the desire of owners John and Sandra Zahoudanis to continue a family legacy connecting his Greek heritage with their family’s future. The unparalleled beauty and Mediterranean feel of the Demetria Estate reminded John of his homeland and became the perfect location to carry on the family tradition of farming and careful stewardship of the land.

Demetria is named after John and Sandra’s daughter, Demetria and translates as “goddess of harvest” in the ancient Greek language. Demetria’s signature rams head logo is based upon a family heirloom piece of jewelry which symbolizes strength and depicts the rams as protectors of the property. The image of the double rams head also represents the merging of the two stylistic wine portfolios produced under the Demetria name. Two distinct portfolios of wines are produced based upon the exceptional, ideally situated growing regions of the Central Coast. Biodynamically grown Rhone-style wines from their Estate in the Santa Ynez Valley and Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from some of the best vineyards located in both the Santa Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley AVAs. The winemaking team is led by winemaker Harry Waye who brings his minimalistic winemaking approach and beliefs of low alcohol, balanced acidity and food friendly wines to our renowned region. The process of Biodynamic farming is guided by Philippe Armenier, formerly of Domaine Marcoux in Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

ABOUT S.Y. KITCHEN:
Owners Kathie and Mike Gordon along with their partner Executive Chef Luca Crestanelli, Sous Chef Francesco Crestanelli, General Manager Emily Johnston and Bar Manager Alberto Battaglini, bring warmth and style and exquisite food and beverages to the Santa Ynez Valley restaurant they opened in April 2013.

With a degree in Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, Chef Luca Crestanelli found his passion and refined his technique during his world travels. He discovered ingredients, recipes, and methods of cooking varied from each little town or village within a country, as each region honored age-old traditions. Over time he developed his own distinctive style, creating an enriched, authentic local culinary experience that honors traditional Italian cuisine.
