Taberna Del Alabardero Offers Rare Opportunity To Taste Some Of The World's Finest Sherries
Taberna del Alabardero has partnered with Gonzalez Byass, one of the most renowned sherry wineries located in Spain's Sherry Wine Region, to present a one-of-a-kind Sherry Tasting Dinner. On Monday, March 31st, Washingtonians will have an extraordinary opportunity to taste some of the world's most unique, yet under-appreciated, fortified wines paired with Executive Chef Dani Arana's classic Spanish cuisine. Some of the pairings include Fino Tio Pepe (the flagship sherry) with Serrano Ham, Octopus Brochette and Monkfish Andalusian Style and Oloroso Matusalem with Braised Veal Cheeks in a Vanilla Sauce with Potato Puree. "By offering this sherry tasting, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the unique flavors and characteristics that different sherries possess and how to enjoy and serve this wonderful libation throughout a meal," said General Manager Paco Pena.
Sherry is a complex, multifaceted fortified wine with the versatility to go from an aperitif to a table wine and even to be enjoyed as an after-dinner sipper. It is produced in the Andalucian towns of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlucar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa Maria; these towns form a region known as the "sherry triangle." Gonzalez Bypass is one of the "classic bodegas" found in this triangle, with vineyards in the best parcels of Jerez.
The special Sherry Tasting Dinner is priced at $90 per person, all inclusive, and begins at 6:30 p.m. Space is very limited. To make reservations, please call 202-429-2200. The menu includes the following:
