Record Number of Restaurateurs Commit to Third Annual
Taste of the Lower East Side -- April 10 Event to Benefit Youth Programs at Grand Street Settlement

New York, New York, March 10, 2003 30 of downtowns hottest restaurants have agreed to partner with Grand Street Settlement to offer New Yorkers a third annual Taste of the Lower East Side. Restaurants participating in the April 10th fundraiser in support of Grand Streets Youth Programs include: 71 Clinton Fresh Food; 1492 Food; Industry (food); Le Tableau; Peasant; Prune; Suba; Tenement; and Verlaine among many others.
Twenty restaurants are returning from last years event, which drew 600 young professionals and raised $125,000 for Grand Street Settlements Youth Programs.
Taste of the Lower East Side 2003 will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2003 from 7-11 PM. It will once again be at Orensanz Center for the Arts, 172 Norfolk Street (between East Houston and Stanton Streets), a former synagogue that has been beautifully restored as an event space. Music will be provided by DJ Patrick Kowalczyk. Ticket prices range from $75 to $1,000. Taste is organized by Friends of Grand Street, a junior committee, and the JUMP! Volunteers. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit JUMP!, the Girls and Young Womens Initiative, the Beacon Center, and other Grand Street Youth Programs.
