Todd English Opens Ca Va Bringing French Brasserie Fare To The City Of New York

Acclaimed Chef Todd English's latest New York eatery Ca Va adds panache to French fare, opening today at 310 W 44th Street adjacent to the new InterContinental New York Times Square. Ca Va (sah-vah) is Chef English's twist on a French brasserie with a 80-seat dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, in addition to an inviting bar and lounge. Ca Va Marche, a quick-service market for hotel guests and locals alike, will open in the adjoining space later this month and offer freshly baked pastries and gourmet salads and sandwiches.

Chef English has created a menu of playful interpretations and modern riffs on the French classics. "I am thrilled to once again be partnering with the InterContinental, and Jeffrey Beers for my newest culinary concept," said English. "My great love for French cooking will be showcased at this new Brasserie, Lounge, and Marche, and I can think of no better location than the iconic theater district of New York City." Victor LaPlaca, who has been cooking alongside Chef English for more than a decade, has been tapped as the chef de cuisine.

Ca Va's breakfast items include savory standouts such as Quail Egg Sunny Side; Toasted Croque Madame 'Fingers' and Fossil Farm Duck Hash Browns. A repertoire of delicacies such as Warm Apple and Raisin Crepes, Smoked Salmon Sliders and assortment of French pastries are also available.

The restaurant's lunch menu, perfect for a quick bite or business lunch, includes salads such as Grilled Rainbow Trout Salad, as well as with heartier fare such as the Roasted Lamb 'French Dip'. A special midday, three-course prix-fixe menu is also offered for $26 and features choices such as Soup a L'Oignon, Seared Salmon Roulade and Braised Short Rib.

Dinner at Ca Va will be graciously served, with a range of options for a delectable French feast. Appetizers such as Moules Marinieres and Slow Braised Octopus Niciose are the perfect way to start the meal. The main course features Artichoke Crusted Skate Wing and Todd's Cassoulet, in addition to seasonally inspired "Plats du Jour" such as Whole Roasted Fish and Ca Va Bouillabaisse.

Inspired by its proximity to New York's theatre district, Ca Va unveils a special pre-theatre menu with family-style offerings. French Baguette Garlic Bread and Family Style Chopped Salad make the perfect opening act for entree choices such as Grilled Flat Iron or Seared Salmon with a sampling of sides including Sauteed Mushrooms, Pommes Puree and Haricots Vert.

Inviting and warm with a glowing fireplace, Ca Va Lounge attracts visitors and city natives seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. An expert in the craft of cocktails, mixologist Francesco Lafranconi has created an impressive list of cocktails with a dash of French flair, such as A L'Absinthe, an intriguing mix of pear flavored vodka, Limoncello and Pernod Absinthe blended with fresh housemade sweet 'n' sour mix and fresh basil. The perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine, craft beer or inventive libation, Les Petits Plats bar menu will feature small bites such as Provencal Flatbread, Foie Gras Stuffed Mushrooms and Crispy Lamb Spareribs.

Accommodating up to 56 diners, Ca Va's private dining room offers a selection of Todd English's most popular brasserie creations, as well as custom menus, artfully presented and served by a gracious staff. This private dining room, perfect for power meetings, as well as special occasions, is divisible into three smaller sections by large walls that disappear into the ceiling revealing a quaint courtyard garden in the midst of bustling downtown Manhattan. This unique and flexible design provides guests the ability to customize their event.
